USDA Food and Nutrition Service Releases New SNAP Report

Over the last four decades the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has played a leading role in fighting hunger and improving nutrition for millions of Americans. In fiscal year 2011, SNAP served nearly 45 million people, which is about one in seven Americans. The USDA Food and Nutrition Service recently released a  report, “Building a Healthier America: A Profile of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program” which provides a summary of research on SNAP, including operation, outcomes, and opportunities to strengthen the program.
